EVEN VOORSTELLEN  / introduction

Hello dear foreign pigeon-friends

Because of some contacts abroad I  translated some text of this website.

So you can also read about me and my hobby. There is more in English just below this introduction in Dutch and also on some others pages of this site.

                                                  Hallo

Mijn naam is Geert Hoogerduijn.

Bel of mail me gerust. Veel kijkplezier.

Groeten

Geert

Hello

My name is Geert Hoogerduijn. I live in the middle of Holland in a little village called Putten. I keep pigeons for several years now. About nine years ago I started keeping and breeding canario's . This is a relatively new Spanish pigeonrace. It's a very fine, obedient pigeonrace with a lot of temperament.

On this website I show my canario's. Every new season I photograph every youngster I breed several times. So everyone can follow the growth of the new canarios. I breed some 20 to 40 youngster a year. I can't keep them all for myself so I sell some youngsters to other canario supporters. In Holland and also abroad.

I've got two aviary's  in my backgarden.  One of them is 4 meters wide with 20 cages (75 x 60) for one couple of pigeons each. This is my breeding aviary. In there I keep 8 couples of feeding-pigeons and the other cages are for the couples (or single) canario's. I don't let the canario's breed themselves. Not because they are not able to but the feeding-pigeons do a better job than the canarios. So it's less risk.

The other voliere is 3 meters wide and also got 20 cages for 1 pigeon each. I can close or open the cages in both aviary's. So I can choose to keep some birds with each other in the aviary or keep them solitaire in one cage. I also let the canario's fly in the open air.  That is a little risky because of birds of pray in the air, especially in wintertime. Sometimes I loose a canario.

I write a blog every few weeks and tell about my experiences with the canario's  Guests can react on my website in the guestbook. Feel free to use it.  If you have any question about the canario or keeping and breeding them, feel free to ask. I'll be glad te help you around.

Best regards

Geert
